Introduction CenterThe Introduction Center handles the reception in Borås of refugees who have got residence permit and have been placed here. The City of Borås has an agreement with Migrationsverket, a govermental body, to receive 150 refugees each year. This is financed by state grants. Our work is to introduce the newly arrived to the Swedish society, with all the rights and duties this includes. Together with the newly arrived person, officers from the Introduction Center form a plan for his or her individual reception. This plan takes into account the education, knowledge, way of life and experiences that the refugee brings from his/her homeland. We work with the family as a whole, which means cooperation with pre-school, health care services, social services and leisure services. The introduction encompasses studies in the Swedish language, information about the Swedish society, practical work experience and contacts with the employment agency. The aim is to give the refugee requirements to support himself/herself and become a part of the Swedish society. While the refugee takes part in the introduction programme, he/she is granted an introduction allowance for at most 18 months. |
